Hey Developers! The Sifteo SDK is posted.

The Sifteo game studio has a bunch of cool stuff in the works, but we know we don’t have the monopoly on creativity! That’s why we invite you to join us to create the next generation of Intelligent Play games and apps.
Yesterday Sifteo released an Alpha version of our Software Developers Kit (SDK) to all interested programmers, from students to seasoned game developers. The SDK enables developers to create games and other applications to run the Sifteo cubes platform. The development language is C#, and the development tools that can be used include MonoDevelop and Visual Studio. You can develop on either Mac or Windows, and we’ve provide a cube simulator and some example projects and documentation to get you started. Coming soon is a way to share what you build in the Sifteo store.
The SDK is available on the Sifteo website at sifteo.com/developers (requires a Sifteo login and acceptance of the SDK License agreement).
We are excited to see what you make!
Nice! C# only though? I thought you guys worked in Python? Any chance of a Python SDK?
The SDK is downloadable, but ends up as an unknown data file on a Windows 7 system. How does it get installed?
Looks like you got help for this in the forums, but wanted to repeat it here for others to see. Try renaming the file extension as .exe
I just started some developing and I got to say, I was really excited about this new concept! I’ve been sketching projects for it since I knew you would release a SDK! But got a little frustrated trying to put the siftemulator to work. Apparently all works fine, the movements are working and I could play through the firsts steps at the “Get Started” app. But it seems there is something odd about the screen emulation. it just wont change from the white screen (or the black screen). No animation was shown and that really makes things difficult. I tried and installed the SDK+mono into 3 computers by now, all three with different settings and the ending result was the same.
Humberto, it’s great that you’re digging into the SDK! The simulator needs to load an app’s image bundle in order to display graphics. There’s a button on the toolbar that brings up a file dialog; open up the directory with your sftbndl file to load the bundle, then run the game.
This means that you can’t run downloaded games like Get Started in the simulator, since the image bundle is sealed inside the package. You should be able to load and run the Slide Show demo under demos/02_SlideShow, though; that’s the best starting point for working with graphics on cubes and in simulator. Thanks!
Josh, that really did the trick! thank you for the help!
The emulator has some minor tweaks but it will do for now while I wait for my set of sifteo cubes. I’m making some games for fun and also a tool to work with autistic children. Cant’t wait to finish it and show the world what Sifteo can do, and everyone will understand Why I find it so amusing!
Thanks again!
Keep posting such kind of information on your blog. I bookmarked it for continuous visit.
