Sifteo interns: Max Meyers

Today’s post is brought to you by game intern extraordinaire Max Meyers, who has spent the summer creating cool demos and games on Sifteo cubes.
Hi, Sifteo fans! I’m Max, and I’ve been an intern on the Games team for this past summer. I’m also a computer science major at New York University, as well as an aspiring game developer, so I couldn’t have asked for a cooler summer job. It’s been a wonderful and fun three months, and certainly the most productive and fulfilling experience I’ve had in the game industry.
As a game developer Intern, I’ve been given a great deal of responsibility. My first project was to design and produce a demo of the cubes and a few of our launch titles for the Museum of Modern Art in New York (currently on display in the Talk to Me exhibit, through November 7th). An intimidating first assignment, I nonetheless had fun with it, and am proud to help expose the world to our cubes.
My main work for the summer, however, was basically a blank slate. My assignment was simply to design and develop a game for the Sifteo cubes. At one of our weekly game brainstorm sessions themed around “fine art,” I came up with the idea of a color mixing puzzle game called “The Painter’s Apprentice” and have been developing it for the last couple months. It requires the player to mix paints of different colors to solve puzzles and help famous artists complete their paintings.
Sifteo is on the brink of the wide release of its flagship product, the Sifteo cubes, so there couldn’t have been a more exciting time to be involved. Sifteo clearly has a very bright future ahead of it, with the public release next month and many exciting games coming down the pipe. Thanks for an awesome summer, Sifteo!
